VOA is my graduate Thesis project that I've been working on for the duration of my final and fourth year at Sheridan for their BAA Illustration program. I chose to write, illustrate and design a novel, complete with branding, layout-design and installation design. On Thursday April 19th-20th, this work (as well as all of my fellow students' work) will be on display at 99 Sudbury in Toronto. It's a free event and will be tons of fun, so come out for a drink and look at some great graduate work! Synopsis: ‘VOA’ follows Mackenzie - a damaged, troubled woman without a cause – as one pivotal but seemingly minimal action leads her straight into the hands of an underground organization. Forced to choose between a complacent reality and a life of meaningful evil in the name of good, her life is upturned and changed forever. Told from various points of view, VOA will leave you in anticipation as it weaves a complicated tale of love, anger, evil, the power of relationships and how seemingly unrelated individuals come together to reveal the truth about Darkhouse, a secret government initiative that takes the term vigilante to a new level. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Inspired by the negative potential outcome of the ever-growing problem of social privacy, VOA is complete with eight black-and-white double-page spread illustrations placed in the midst of the novel's most pivotal moments.
